How to get to Poppy?
Love the nickname poppy, but I would prefer a full name for it.
Was thinking of Persephone, but not sure if there was a quicker way to get to poppy?
Thought? What are your favourite names that poppy can come from?
I can only really think of Persephone or Penelope.
I don't think there is any one name that a majority of people would assume that the nickname Poppy would come from. If anything I think most people would assume Poppy was a full name. So in my opinion any P name could have the nickname Poppy.
Penelope was my first thought... some of these might be a stretch but how about......
I agree with the above. I always think of Poppy as a regular, full name--and a very pretty one too! If you want a longer, more formal name, why not use Poppy as a mn? She could go by Poppy but have the longer name on official documents as a fn.
I love how fresh, young and fun it sounds. However where I'm from, it's not thought of as a full name and its not heard of around here.
But I like British/Australian names!
Persephone is my favourite, but I don't love it. Also I think Percy and Sephy are more common nicknames and I'm not as fond of those.
I agree with what has been said above. Any P name can have the nickname Poppy. I also think that a lot of M names can have the nickname Poppy. I mean, if Polly and Peggy can come from Mary and Margaret, why not Poppy?
I love the idea of Josephine nn Poppy or Penelope nn Poppy, personally. I do like Poppy all on its own, though, even though its a bit cutesy.
Most "P" names would work, frankly. Then there's the Ancient Roman Poppaea/Poppea, if you want something really straight-forward.
Straying from p names, I think it works for Calliope as well.
