missusaytch, I love your list!
Sybilla- I know you how much you love this! It seems to be one of the constants on your list. I love it too- elegant, exotic and strong. I believe you once described it as a combination of West and East? great description
Zara- same vibe as Sybilla. exciting, dramatic and exotic but pretty and royal
Emerald- not a fan, too masculine-sounding for me
Roxana- a bit dated
Beatrice- beautiful, love this! classic, strong but feminine. great historical and literary connections
Lucilla- love the nn Lux. spunky but vintage and pretty
Vivien- like this because of Vivien Leigh
Claire- sweet but a bit dull compared to some of your other names
Gillian- nms, sounds a bit cold to me
Laura- same as Claire
Eva- sweet and cute but seems insubstantial on its own- Evelina nn Eva?
Miranda- love this! it's not on my favourites list but pretty close
Tabitha- always thought this was more suitable for a [tabby] cat than a human, sorry
Lydia- pretty, sweet and easy to wear. but I don't like the Lydia Bennet connection
Rachel- nice, but I know so many it underwhelms me
Prudence- nice sound in theory, but a bit old-fashioned
Diana- gorgeous! one of my favourite names, and I love the Diana, Princess of Wales connection
Marianna- nice, but I like Mariana better with its European flair
Aria- nice, more mdoern than the rest of your names
Virginia- beautiful American Colonial style name, but I don't like Ginny
January- cute, would be too hard to wear IMO
Petal- same as January
Cana- too insubstantial
Eve- see Eva
Monica- a bit dated, but nice
Wilhelmina nn Mina- lovely, European and historical
Marcella- same as Gillian
Iris- same as Gillian
Chrysanthe- just doesn't seem very name-y to me
Sally- can't see this as a nickname, sorry
My favourites (no particular order): Sybilla, Zara, Beatrice, Miranda, Diana, Virginia. And I love Anastasia, Elizabeth, Anneke, Helena and Ingrid- too bad you can't use them!
My faves from your top tier: Zara & Vivien
My faves from your second tier: Eva, Tabitha, & Lydia
My faves from your third tier: Aria, Eve, & Iris
And I also like Anastasia, Elizabeth, Josephine, Elsa, & Lena.
Just made my husband talk about baby names for 30 seconds. LOL. It's like pulling teeth. He doesn't like Roxana or Sybilla. :-( The girl name he keeps suggesting is his grandmother's name, Lena, which I like but which reminds me of an actress I dislike. He also likes Marlena, but I really don't.
Sigh. Just let me do the naming, dude. Seriously.
Sybilla nn Billie: like Sybilla, not a fan of Billie. Sybbie is cute.
Zara: like this. Unique and exotic.
Emerald - middle: Very nice! I always found this to be underused.
Roxana nn Roxy: I slightly prefer Roxanne, but really like it all the same.
Beatrice nn Bea: Love it!
Lucilla nn Lux: Almost got soooo excited cuz I thought it was Lucia, for which I love Lux. But Lucilla is good too (unless it's pronounced the same? Cause the double L in spanish pronunciation could make it sound just like Lucia...)
Vivien nn Vivi: Cute! I would use a different spelling though.
Claire: I love Claire! So pretty and feminine.
Gillian: Very nice! nn Gilly is adorable, and the name as a whole is spunky and energetic.
Laura: Eh. Too common. But still pretty.
Eva: I prefer Eve, but Eva is still nice.
Miranda: Not a fan
Tabitha: Don't like the nn Tabby, making the entire name less attractive.
Lydia: I know someone I'm not too fond of with this name, so that takes away from it. But it's nice.
Rachel: I actually think this works really well despite how common it is. I can't explain it, but it's great!
Prudence: Sounds like prunes. No thank you.
Diana: Very pretty!
Marianna: No. Just no.
Virginia nn Ginny: Love it, love it, love it!
January: I like this too, with the nn Jani.
Petal: Too frilly.
Cana: What? No.
Eve: Yes! Much better than Eva.
Monica: Eh. Nothing against it.
Wilhelmina nn Mina: I like Mina better than the full name. Too much of a mouth full.
Marcella: Very pretty.
Iris: Sounds kind of harsh to me.
Chrysanthe: pronunciation is kind of a bugger. So I can't judge very accurately.
Sally: Too "Cat in the Hat". Not a fan.
Names I love that are unusable, for one reason or another:
Anastasia: Love it!!!
Elizabeth: Love it!!!
Susannah: Don't love it.
Josephine: Love it!!!!
Ana: Rather it be a nickname, honestly.
Anneke: What? Don't love it.
Elsa: Don't like.
Ingrid: Too harsh, imo.
Lena: Very cute! So stylishly simple.
Elisenda: looks made up, and awkward to say.
Katriel: Interesting, but nms.
I like most of the names on your list!!! You said your husband likes Lena but you don't, what about Elena or Elaina(nickname Lena or Laney/Lainie)? Also Marlena could be cute with nickname Marlee.
