Typically Jewish names?
Please give me some typically Jewish names for both boys and girls. Not super popular like Ann, Jacob, Ezekiel, Asher or Susannah, but some which make you immediately think the bearer is Jewish.
So far I have Ruth, Revekka, Jesse, Elisha and Phineas. Any other unusual but familiar ideas appreciated:)
The first name that comes to mind is Ari/Ariel for a boy and Rachael for a girl (I know this is pretty popular, but these are my first thoughts :)
I like Miriam, Anat, Elior, Oren and Ari, thanks!
Lael, Chaya, and Michal were my first thoughts (all for girls).
Ari, Avi, Havah/Chavah....
Hanan (Muslims use it as a girl's name, but on a boy it's pretty much only used by Jews) also Elchanan and Yochanan.
Judah and Yehudah (but Jude is more general)
Tevye, Tobiah, Tobias.
Shoshana (much more so than Susannah which is more general)
I have never seen Revekka in my life. I assume its a variant of Rivka/Rifka? (Rivka being Hebrew for Rebecca/Rebekah and Rifka being a Yiddish variant).
Which raises the question, are you looking for specifically Hebrew or Yiddish names, or it doesn't matter? I have both on my list.
Wow, that's a lot of names, thank you! I like Miriam,Aliyaha,Chaya, Hillel, Noam, Jude, Noa and Tamar.
And yes,I look for both Hebrew and Jewish names:)
