Thanks to those who have already given feedback on our ideas re a girl's name in separate posts. If this baby is a boy we are set on Hugh Roland, though I'm sure my husband wouldn't mind swapping the middle. I think the two are strong together, with Roland serving to anchor Hugh a bit. Any thoughts?
I love Hugh. It fits into my favorite type of name category, recognizable as a real name with history and substance, yet underused and refreshing on a baby. I don't love Roland, but that's just a personal preference. Hugh Roland sounds okay together though.
Another thumbs up for Hugh. Don't love Roland as a fn but okay with Hugh Roland.
Love Hugh. Roland is okay but not my favorite.
I like Roland, but Hugh is not my fave...prefer Hugo, which I think would go great with Roland.
I like Hugh, a handsome, underused name. I think Roland makes a nice mn.
I don't like either names myself, but on someone else's child it is a good combination. I prefer Hugo to Hugh.
We're thinking about other possible middles for Hugh right now, with Roland becoming the default if we can't find something we love. Our last name begins with T so we're staying away from names beginning with O and A - though we both have a soft spot for Augusten/Augustin/August. We would also like to avoid a G/J sound to eliminate the sound of Hugh running right into a Guh sound calling to mind "huge."
Some ideas right now:
Hugh Philip (we've nixed that one, but it gives you an idea of what style we like, classics)
As I said, we're not feeling that "this is it!" with any of these so I'd love to hear new suggestions!
Thanks in advance :)
A lovely name. So masculine, classy and unfussy.
