Wow! I forgot that Cree Summer existed until just now, but she was in so many cartoons that I watched when I was younger that she really feels like a big part of my childhood. I adore Hero on a girl and it's such a daring choice that I always feel thrilled when I see it used, and Peregrine goes beautifully with it.
I feel like I should think that Brave and Hero are corny on sisters, but I kind of like it. I just looked her up and she grew up on a reservation and her mom is called Lili Red Eagle, so I guess her daughters both having bird-related middle names is likely in honor of her mom.
love both names, they are on my list for girls....have been for a while. cute Brave is also on my list how funny I didn't even know she had kids
Isn't Peregrine a boy's name?
Yep just checked - it is. Oh well.
Well, and what about the lady Hero from the Greek story of Hero and Leander? Isn't that the first literary use of the name? It seems strange to me that the word hero entered our language with a very masculine, "Superman" image, but given that image it does seem oddly macho on a girl. I also dislike Peregrine on a girl. However, Hero Peregrine is a pretty good followup to Brave Little Wing.
Isn't Hero as the Shakespearian name meant to be said differently to hero the word? The former more like Herro - Hello but with Rs in, and the latter Hear-oh.
