What I thought were early pre-menstrual cramps last night have now escalated into some form of debilitating plague that has rendered me and my husband both bedridden on a Monday afternoon. Thank goodness it's not a stomach bug, but we're not doing so hot over here--achy muscles and skin, chills, feverish, oddly sore stomachs, the whole nine yards. This is completely irrelevant to TTC but I'm afraid that having a disease during the two-week wait will jeopardize any life that was created inside of me last week. :( Nothing will want to implant in there because it's all achy and sickie. :(
If you never hear from me again, assume I succumbed to this affliction and have gone the way of my spleen and my old Chevy Cavalier. :(
Did you get a flu shot? It sounds exactly like real flu, the bona fide influenza virus. Worth seeing your doctor for as Tamiflu in the first 48-72h can make things a lot more smooth.
I did not get a flu shot, and hadn't even thought about seeing my doctor--I typically just wait these things out (I'm either a real trooper or a real dummy). But since I'm in the two-week wait can I even take any medicine? Will this virus nix any chances of implantation if we did conceive?
Many, many medications are perfectly safe in pregnancy, and Tamiflu is one of them. Being sick, in some kind of systemic hypermetabolic/ inflammatory state, won't necessarily nix your chances but it does make them poorer. Worth a call, imo.
Thanks, Blade! The office is closed for the day but I may call tomorrow if I'm still feeling this ill.
Just took a little jaunt to the grocery store in my pajamas and no makeup, trudging through the aisles like a diseased wretch with a splitting headache and alternating chills and fever. I had to get honey for in my tea. Emergency Honey Hunt. I don't know why I'm drinking tea--I think people do it when they're sick. Mayhap it will revive me. Otherwise I fear I shan't survive the night. Godspeed.
Haven't checked here in a while... this new website format had my phone flummoxed... :)
@poppy - so sorry to read about your recent news. All I can say is...see if you can get some of the procedures looked into that Blade had mentioned. I'll be thinking of you.
@alzora - sounds like a bad case of the flu! Hope you feel better! Tea is a must when sick!
As for me, I'm just kinda in limbo right now. Waiting until Thursday to get my Day 21 labs done. My Day 3s came back normal. Just waiting around to get stuff done and take the next step.
So, I decided to try OPKs this month. I started on cycle day eleven (last Sunday). So far I've taken three (Sun, Mon, Tues) and all are negative. My ovulation date is predicted for tomorrow (Wed). According to the package, the test strips should detect my LH approximately 36-24 hours prior to ovulation. Fingers crossed something shows up tomorrow. I'm starting to worry nothing will show up at all!
Andi, yay labs were normal for day 3! Does that give you any comfort or just make you feel more apprehensive? My Day 3 Labs are coming up ... in a week now I think? Hope I pass, too.
Sarah, I totally got confused when you referred to tomorrow being Wednesday. I work nights so I never actually know what day it is ... then I remembered you're in Australia so I felt a little better about my time lapse. Okay, so how many days is your normal cycle? You might be a late ovulator/shorter luteal phase kinda gal.
Alzora, feel better soon!! Flu shots for all next year okay? And by "next year" I mean four months from now. They make preservative free shots for mommas and future mommas.
@Poppy - Yes, we're about fourteen hours ahead of America (roughly). Right now, it's late Wednesday afternoon here. My normal cycle is 28 days (give or take a day here and there). I'm pretty regular, so I figured my ovulation time would be pretty spot on as well. I'm a bit surprised my results have been negative so far. I'm hoping I get a positive tomorrow. Also, the control line on the tests are very faint, which is odd because I've used their pregnancy tests before (First Response) and the control line was always very dark.
@sarahmezz tell me have you used the maybe baby saliva ovulation detector thingy (sorry don't know what its actually called!)?? its gives the fern look when you are ovulating. I actually used it for my first two and it was pretty accurate. I'm using it this time around as well as an app on my iphone for keeping track of ovulation days, 'intimate days'! etc. I am currently about 8 days off when my period is due. I refuse to do a pregnancy test until my period is "officially" late. Husband and I made sure there was plenty going on this month around the 10 days of when I thought I would be ovulating..............wasn't last month so you never know this month.....
