I think the g is supposed to barely be there. You can hear it, but it's not as pronounced as it would be in a name like Gertrude, for example.

Aww, thanks Sessha. Ditto for us, we assumed we'd start having little ones several years ago and just kept putting it off until one day I woke up and I was in my 30's AND I HAD SOME GREY HAIR! I'm glad I'm not alone, too. I really was starting to feel like a weirdo. Everyone around me keeps having babies. My step-sister is pregnant with her fourth, and I think that's what started me on my crazy spiral this time around. Also, my bio dad who I haven't talked to in 5 years called me to ask when I was having babies, and that's literally all he wanted to know. Grrr... We're both very open to adoption, and that's another thought we have from time to time, adopting some older children. I know that comes with its own set of challenges, but at least it makes me feel less panicky about feeling I have to make a decision now before my body quits. There are lots of ways to be a mom. Right now, I'm a mommy to some furry little hellions that purr occasionally.

Haha! I was just reading your reply to the 'personality types' thread and had to laugh so much at what you wrote. I say exactly what you said your husband says like all the time. But...why can't people just make sense? [I'm also INTJ]

You're welcome. My version rocks! I'd love it if you put Tobias Wayland on your list, it's awesome!!!
  7. View Conversation
Yeah, it's the same one. Wayland's story is sad, but I'll give you the overview here.
Wayland and his brothers were married to three swan maidens. They were captured by Wayland's brothers, and when they escaped Wayland buried himself in his work and became an exceptional smith. The evil king in the kingdom heard of his talent and had him captured and imprisoned, forced to make beautiful treasures for the king. Yes, Wayland killed his sons, but they were just as evil and cold hearted as their father. What happened with the princess I'm not sure, from what I've learned it was a seduction, not a rape. He didn't kill any birds, he collected feathers on the beach on the island where he was held captive. He fashioned himself wings and flew off, searching for his lost wife. In some versions he fins her, in other we don't find out. I think it's a tale of someone who has unspeakable things happen to them but are able to keep their focus and come out on the other side. I hope this helped a bit!!

Ok, I got so ridiculously excited about this that I worried my entire family, but I must share with you. My sister has been in California working at a yoga retreat center and is home this week for her first visit in 6 months. While she was telling me about her time there, she mentioned meeting the young son of one of the retreat's leaders and his name was Zion! I tried to get more details out of her but she only knew that he was 1 year old and absolutely adorable. Obviously I immediately thought of you. Just figured you'd like to know about this instance of it being used. =]
