I tried to edit the message but I must have accidentally clicked post. :/ Anyway I wanted to add Dorothy L. Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey novels as an example of the theme idea.

Haha I've got to be honest, I think you got me there. (This is what happens when I type before I think :/.) What I probably should have said was, I tend to read romances (or any kind of book) that were written by Christian authors, where there's a theme of faith or truth or love running through them, even if the characters aren't obviously Christian. I think you said something like this about Benedikt & Gracie but I have no idea where the post is.
Sorry it took so long to respond

I think Christian romance probably gets a kind of bad rap for some of the authors' writing styles and/or plots, because, like in all genres, there's some pretty crummy stuff out there. I like romance and I'm a Christian, but I think I tend to read "romances where the characters are Christians" rather than "Christian romances," if that makes any sense. But I think it's impossible to be a good writer if you don't read other good writers, and from reading what you've written I'd say that you read the good Christian romance writers and really any other good writers.
And n.b. I'm really sleepy so I hope this makes sense...

Is Christian romance not really your thing then? I'm not sure if I've read any.

What are you reading? I'm rereading The Lord of the Rings since I've only read it all the way through one time.

I'd say if you're not satisfied with it then wait to put it up. (Haha, like anyone is ever satisfied with what they write.) It's okay if it's taking you awhile, good books don't just roll out. You play piano and paint, right?

Good idea! I have something like that page for one of my stories, but I've never figured out a by-chapter plot yet. I think that's going to my goal now. I'm going to (hopefully) try NaNoWriMo, but I sort of procrastinate sometimes, so... probably won't work, lol. At least not properly.

I assume you write mostly realistic fiction, right? I do that for short stories, and I have one intended-to-be-longer story that I want to make a novel at the back of my mind, but I mostly write fantasy, I think because I love creating countries and worlds. Hve you written/write fantasy?

Also I think I know the story I want to focus on right now, but I need to straighten up the plot. Currently it's sort of a mess.

Well, I haven't been writing that long. A little over a year? I haven't been working on any of my current ones very long, and the previous ones weren't completely in earnest. I have a bad habit of working on many stories/novels at once... I actually have three definite ones about six pages (some 4, some 7, etc.) going, and two other vague seedlings starting to grow. As well as short stories. My problem is that I have lots of ideas, and then, well, not forget, but work less, on the one before.

Have you done NaNoWriMo? I want to this year, but haven't yet!

Very well, thanks! I'm glad you're doing better though, I've been thinking about you and hoping you were doing okay. I think I read Chapter 1. during my break, since I was still checking the blog even when I wasn't using Nameberry. I usually write chronologically too, but with the thing I'm working on now (I think it's turning into a novel), incidents just pop into my head and I have to get them down before I forget. It gets a little mixed up that way, though, especially since I usually write it by hand first and then type it up. I'm thinking about posting a chapter to see what people think but I know I'll end up rewriting (again--this is the second go). I'm excited to be back on Nameberry!

No problem, can't wait! I write too (and I have attempted MANY novels... never gotten farther than six pages. That is a record for me. *Sigh* I am holding out hope for the current one, though!)
