Vampire Baby Names
Even vampire babies need names, and some name-thirsty nameberryans are only too ready to conjure up some Gothic choices. Over on our message boards under Name Games, check out the Halloween-appropriate game: Name that Vampire Family.
The game and the names are hilarious….yet also strangely appealing. (Hmmmm, my teeth have been looking a little sharp lately, and I find myself feeling bizarrely most awake around midnight.)
Check the boards for our visitors’ vampire name ideas. Some Halloween-themed additions of our own, to bestow upon a child at your own peril:

Hey Pam – once more you hit on one of my cat’s names. Leopold – he was rescued from the shelter as Mr. Kilmouski – but Leopold sounded “Polish” enough to be his first name. Mr. Kilmouski is so formal. I don’t see Leoplod as a vampire name – but Lucien or Lucius definitely.

I’m so happy you love the vampire game. I just notice this article. My favorite vampire names are Leopold and Lenore. But vampire babies need at least two or even three middle names so they sound extra noble and can live in a big, black castle. Why is this vampire style so appealing? Maybe because it’s fun to not take ourselves so seriously. I’ve got to say that Scarlett is a very clever vampire name! I especially love Night, too! Vampire names would be adorable for black kittens with huge, unblinking green or gold eyes. We named our black kitten Cairo Jones which is not a vampire name but it is awfully cute.

Hey! Lucretia’s in my working list! I have her on there for Lucretia Mott, a hero of mine. the thought of Lucreziaorgia doesn’t bother me the slightest bit, I think she got a bum rap by the guys writing History!
Lenore, Ophelia, Perdita, Isolde & Phaedra are other favorites on my lists (not the working one though, the sound, meaning and/or assocation sort of renders them a bit less usable for me).
On the boys side, Boris is gorgeous, when said properly. bah-EES and I’d use him myself if I could guarantee the pronunciation I prefer. Bram’s been a favorite forever (thanks to Bram Stoker & Dracula, we’re HUGE Dracula buffs!) and Lazarus goes on and off my lists. I love his sound but don’t know how he’d go over in my neighborhood (where things like Phineas, Vanya, Stanley, Brian & Byron are heard for boys) maybe I should ask around?
