As the mom of both a June and an August (eeeeek!) baby, I totally relate to this week’s Nameberry Style column by Elisabeth Wilborn, creator of The Itsy Factor and You Can’t Call It It, on hot weather maternity style. How to make it through those final weeks and months (and hours!) of pregnancy in both comfort and style? Elisabeth has the answer.

This is the year of the Maxi dress, and if you’re pregnant, you are in luck.  The perfect maternity dresses can be found everywhere, for super cheap, and you’ll be in style!

One of my favorites is this stripey number from Old Navy.  The inverted V celebrates your burgeoning belly, and will accentuate your new best feature(s).  Added bonus: no one will see those swollen ankles (I feel for you, I’ve been there and I’m so sorry!)

A necklace will help elongate your look.  Anthropologie has the most luxurious collection, and remember that accessories will long out last your maternity wardrobe.  These wedge heels from Tom’s add height without sacrificing comfort, plus,  with Tom’s One for One project, you are automatically purchasing a pair for someone in need.

Scarves add a finished look to every outfit and are all the rage this season.  Choose a color that flatters your skin, and avoid being matchy-matchy with it.

This market tote from Madewell is perfect for the beach, and can even double as a diaper bag later!  I hope you always have a big bottle of water on you, something salty and something with a little sugar, like green grapes.  Summer can be brutal on mamas-to-be, and this satchel will help you stay prepared for anything.  With two toddlers in tow I use mine all the time—might as well get used to giant bags now.

Keep cool with a nice hat—a fedora or a wide floppy, something that you feel comfortable in and would wear anyway even if you weren’t pregnant.  Don’t go crazy, you can still dress like yourself.  But try to embrace your new sexy fertility goddess frame.  The piece de resistance?  The perfect pair of shades.  We love this glam pair from Oliver Peoples.  They’re an investment, but as long as you always put them back in your woven bag and promise not to lose them, they’re a good one.

Finally, treat yourself to a fresh haircut.  In keeping with the idea of lengthening, preserve the locks as long as possible and and try to frame that pretty face.  YOU are who we want to see, and we cannot wait to meet the person inside.  Enjoy summer mamas.
