Asher is back on top!  The hot biblical name has reclaimed the crown as Number One boys’ name from Finn, which snatched it last year.

Declan, an Irish choice that flirted with the Number One spot on Nameberry throughout 2013, finished at Number Two.

Finn’s star may be flickering, but waiting in the wings is Finn‘s understudy Flynn, another Irish name that was brought to widespread notice by the young son of supermodel Miranda Kerr and actor Orlando Bloom.

Which boy names have been most popular on Nameberry so far this year?

The big news in baby boy names: Asher is back on top, a spot he held in our 2011 popularity list but lost to Finn in 2012.  Finn is still enormously popular with Nameberry’s parents, holding onto the Number 2 spot, though longtime favorite Henry is slipping in our rankings for 2013.

New hottie among boy names on Nameberry: Declan, in the Number 3 spot, all the way up from Number 21 for 2012.  And August, at Number 35, was not even on the 2012 Top 100.

Django holds the Number 4 spot thanks the hit movie; it’s a cool name, but we don’t expect to see many baby Djangos.

The names we see leaping the furthest up the list include: Flynn, Dashiell, August, Nico, Bodhi, Gray,  and Frederick.  We can credit the new Pope for Francis squeaking onto the list at Number 100.
