Or not. Some names are too offbeat to catch on. I’m looking at you, Apple and Zuma.
But more often, celebrity baby names are truly influential. Starbabies can turn that name everyone is cautiously considering into the next Top Ten favorite. Ava, Isabella, Jayden, and Liam all got a big boost when Hollywood mamas chose the names.
When it comes to vintage baby names, a new celebrity baby can be a powerful signal that a name is prime for a comeback.
With fewer than ten weeks left in 2014, let’s take a look back at the best of the high profile birth announcements so far.
But there have been some amazing celebrity baby names, stylish choices rich with meaning, unusual names that feel like they’d be wearable in Hollywood or anyone’s hometown.
I couldn’t keep the list to just nine total, so here are my nine favorite celebrity baby names for girls, and nine more for boys – subject, of course, to revision, any time between now and December 31st!
There are a handful of super-controversial topics in baby naming.
Creative spellings. Surnames-as-firsts. And, of course, boys’ names on girls.
The first two are easier, I think. They’re about style and preference. If you love the look of Madelyn, no amount of cajoling will convince you that it really must be Madeline. And either surnames like Lincoln and Bellamy make your shortlist, or not.
But when it comes to gender, there’s more at stake.
