Wtf. Ok. Or, "I never imagined naming my kid ____." Um excuse me but you said you've never considered names until you found out I was pregnant ??? So which is it?? I love the name Quintin and he absolutely refuses. He likes Elijah (nn Eli), Noah, and Jameson. Omg talk about COMMON. I told him I won't use a common name. I have a daughter named Avila and tried telling him it has to "go" with her name and he just doesn't listen. He thinks spelling a common name a ridiculous way is ok since his mom did that with his sister Nikkole. He also said his and his sib's names don't go together so why does ours? I told him I'm not his mom and I'm not picking some random name the day the baby is born. Since he won't make suggestions anymore (I'm "mean" apparently by explaining how I won't use a name that I know a bunch of kids named that. He thinks since he doesn't then I'm just "out to get him" or something stupid. Seriously he's driving me absolutely nuts) and refuses all my names without reason and claims he's just gonna call it "Baby Dos" anyway I'm just gonna pick whatever name I and I alone like. :) He has rejected almost all of my names and when I say why he says “because I don’t like it.” Wtf. Which discourages me because I'm so obsessed and have been since I was around 10. Names I've said no to: Lauren (I graduated with 5 of them, 4 having the same last initial as ours. It's just overused/dated.), Crystal (stripper name imo), Renee (dated), Alexander (2 in my fam), Zachary (Zac Hanson is/was my hugest crush ever. Too weird. lol Plus EVERYBODY in my fam would assume I named the kid after him.), Devin Scott Jr (husband's name obviously. Would call him DJ. I love 'Roseanne' but no way.) Names he said no to- all of them, including Hannah, Gemma (I adore this name, so I'm heartbroken. He says it's weird.), any names that sound 'too white' as we are a mixed race couple. It drives me crazy because our views are so different. I have said "NO!" to nearly every name he has suggested but the one I veto most often is Tarzan. I absolutely refuse to name my child that and have told my husband even if something were to happen and that was his dying wish, I STILL wouldn't do it! He said he has always wanted a son named Tarzan because that was the name (not nn) of a close childhood friend. Supposedly, this kid never got teased about it and was a popular guy. He drowned as a teenager so this is a way for my husband to honor his memory. Our first two children were girls but up until we found out, he pushed for Tarzan. Afterwards, he suggested Tarzana- which I find equally appalling. He said not only would it honor his friend, but his mother used to live in Tarzana, Ca. so it would honor her too. Other names I've shot down are: Excalibur Gwar Conan (as in The Destroyer/The Barbarian) Loader Dirt Exodus Crewel (Cruel) Dude Kidd Ogre Über or ÜberMonster Warmad or Madwar most of these are from this pregnancy; I can't remember all the others. This is our fourth child together and like the first three, probably won't get his/her name until the faculty comes in with the forms for the birth certificate :( Unfortunately, my husband is dead serious when he suggests these names...says he wants the kid to be different. He doesn't get that with any of these names, it will be a bad different. After our 3rd I told him that if we had another, I would get to choose the full name (with our daughters, he chose fn, I chose mn and he chose both for our son) but I don't want a name that only appeals to me- I want us both to like it so I continue to browse baby-naming sites.
