I really like this blog, however there are some...inconsitistancies with the harvest goddess portion within the greek names.Rhea is not the goddess of the earth. The mother earth in greek mythology is Gaia. Rhea is the goddess of health, fetility, motherhood, and regeneration. And Persephone is the goddess of of spring groth or jsut spring time. Not the Harvest. She was however the queen of th eudnerworld after being kidnapped and trapped by Hades. Demeter however is correct :) Just a quick Fix :)

There are some great names on this list. I don't know if there are any that I would name my own child.

I do however write and love names for that reason. I can totally see a character with these names. (FYI, I write romance)

Aster (regal, upper-crust, careless disregard for those under her socially. She would be a great historical heroine who would have her world tossed into upheaval. Perhaps her father loses all his money and she's forced to marry "new money")

Ivy (she's a fun more modern heroine. Her parents were hippies and she embraced the lifestyle. Since I write romance, she meets an uptight business man that wants her family farm to turn it into a mall or something.)

Poppy and Opal are Ivy's sisters

Ash (perhaps short for Ashley or Asher is male. He's younger than the heroine in his story. He helps her enjoy life away from the uptight responsibilities and expectations of her life. She teaches him that responsibility is important)

Brown (He's a southern boy. His mother wanted him to carry her maiden name. He hunts, fishes, and runs a successful business. His first love left him because he didn't want to leave their small town when they graduated. Now she's back.)

Anyway, I love it when a name causes a character flash in front of my eyes and this blog had a ton of them for me. :)

My friend had a baby last week and named her Maple. I never considered that a viable name option before, but I think it works. Baby #1, a son, is Ocean.

Interesting article, as always. One note, however: Acacia trees bloom in late Winter/early Spring, usually around February.
